A NEW ONE, DAY BY DAY – day 2

day 2 picked up at the neckline. the light/shadows along the colar bones and clavicle are my favorite parts of the torso to paint. boobs are a close second, true...but they are a bit less challenging. taking a reference photo with pretty extreme highlights and shadows makes for a much more exciting painting process and over time I've found that it makes it much easier (for me at least) to capture realism. (this may be common knowledge among trained figurative painters, but being as I have no idea what i'm talking about generally, I'll just pretend it is, as with most things painterly, something unique I have just stumbled upon). more soon...
