BACK FROM A LULL

IMG_1361

Aside from long lines, security theater, and the general offensiveness of the majority of my fellow Americans (flip-flop wearers); I really like flying. There are obvious exceptions*, but I usually kind of enjoy being locked in a seat at 30,000 feet, with nothing to do but entertain myself. Continue reading

QUICK TAMPA TRIP

IMG_1568

On my way out East to visit my dad in Massachusetts, I took a quick trip to Tampa Fl to get some more work done on a rib tattoo. My buddy Phil Holt started it over a year ago and we’re finally getting back into it. I’ll spare you on how bad tattoos feel on ribs. Continue reading

ART BASEL 2010 pt.II

IMG_1469

I’m a little late with this one, but I wanted to get a few more pictures up from my trip to Miami last month. here’s a look inside the WhiteWalls tent at the W in SouthBeach. That’s work from Above, Kevin Cyr, and Jessica Hess on the right – my two pieces in the center, and Clayton Bros. on the left. Continue reading

ART BASEL 2010 pt.I

IMG_1395

I was able to get to Miami for Art Basel again this year, and this time, I felt I had a much better handle on how to approach the fairs. For those who haven’t been, Miami basically turns into a huge art gallery, with fairs situated in all parts of the city. They can be tricky to get to without wheels, and packing in so much art can be a challenge (physically and mentally). Continue reading

I’ll be headed to Miami bright and early tomorrow morning, so bright and early in fact that I’m just going to stay up and save myself the torture. I’ll be exhibiting with WhiteWalls as part of “Never Say Never”, a group show presented by the Arts Fund and the W Hotel South Beach (more info below). Continue reading

NEW YORK AND THE MET

I’m at 35,000 ft. — on my way back to SFO from Boston. it’s Virgin America, so i’m writing this and watching Die Hard, aglow in purple light and surrounded by what looks like a giant flying ipod. It’s now been over a week since I painted anything, and I can’t wait to get back to it. Continue reading

MONTREAL pt.II

“Looking East” opened on Wednesday night at Yves Laroche Gallery. The gallery had just recently moved to a brand new 9000 sq. ft. space — huge for a gallery. that was enough room for a solo show from Daniel Martin Diaz, Justin’s “Looking East” group show with 40+ pieces, and a more permanent collection. Continue reading

MONTREAL pt.I

I got into Montreal late last Tuesday night and met my good friend Chris Sherriff at a hotel downtown. I met Chris 12 years ago in Toronto on tour with my old band. We stayed with him and his parents every time we were in Ontario and a few years later he was on tour with us as our roady/merch guy/mechanic/driver. Continue reading

OFF TO TAMPA

The “Sirens” show opens this Saturday at RedLetter1 in Tampa, FL. I’ll be headed out tomorrow morning for a day on the increasingly hellish Southwest Airlines, with plans to spend Thursday doing the only other thing Florida is good for … Continue reading
